The village of New Radnor where we stayed held a street party for the Queens Jubillee celebrations.

As a consequence the road was closed for the event.

The cottage where we stayed was peaceful and secluded.

A small stream ran through its garden.....

The cottage was approached along its own private track.

Bridge crosses the river beyond the Caban Coch Dam, Elan Valley. near Rhayader

....and looking back down the valley beyond.

Another of the Elan Valley reservoirs..

This dam wall overflows into the valley below

...and makes a spectacular sight (and sound !)

Meanwhile, sheep graze happily on the meadowland.

This dam also serves as a road bridge.

The Anderton Boat lift near Northwich, Cheshire

The boat has been painstakingly restored with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Trust.

The Victorian built lift allows boats to transfer from the Leeds and Liverpool canal to the River Weaver below and vica-versa

The salt works can be seen opposite alongside the River Weaver.

A magnificent structure originally built during the industrial revolution.

Officially condemned in 1983, the lift stood idle until Spring 2002, when it was officially re opened !

2nd April, and this old tree still shows no sign of springtime in Epworth, East Yorkshire

Meanwhile, in Marbury Country Park the trees and shrubs are well underway !

Weeping Willows along the bank of the Chesterfield Canal near Worksop, Nottinghamshire.

Nettles along the bankside have also began to flourish.
